Eli Guttman is a former football player, current manager of Israeli national team. His playing career lasted only for 6 years; he is more prominent for his managerial achievements.
He started coaching in 1985 in the club Maccabi Kiryat Bialik, but the first success came a almost decade later when in 1997 Guttman claimed Israel Super Cup with Hapoel Be’er Sheva. Two years later the manager celebrated victory in Liga Leumit with Hapoel Haifa.
From 2001 to 2007 Guttmann headed such clubs as Beitar Jerusalem, Hapoel Petah Tikva, Hapoel Haifa, Hapoel Be’er Sheva and Paralimni. But it was his rule in Hapoel Tel Aviv here he took over Guy Luzon in 2007 that brought him true glory and recognition. At the starting season he saved the team from relegation, and later created the side that clinched the double Israeli Premier League and Israel State Cup.
On 27 December 2011 Eli Guttman was appointed as manager of Israel national team manager.
