Frank de Boer is a former Dutch football player, currently the manager of Ajax. De Boer was born on 15 May 1970 in Hoorn, Netherlands.
His playing career started in Ajax in 1988, where he firstly played as a left-back, but later moved to the centre-back position. Frank spent 10 seasons in Ajax from 1988 to 1999, totaling 328 appearances for the side and scoring 30 goals. With the club he claimed the UEFA Cup and the Champions League title. In 1999 Frank de Boer and his brother Ronald de Boer were signed by Barcelona. His 4-year stay in the Catalan ended in 2003, when the defender moved for a season to Galatasaray.
After a season at the Turkish side Frank sealed a deal with Rangers, where he played only in 15 games and netted a ball 2 times. After Euro 2004 he accepted an offer to join Al-Rayyan from Qatar, retiring from playing In April 2006.
De Boer have been capped 112 times for Netherlands, taking part in the 1994 and 1998 World Cups, Euro 1992, Euro 2000 and Euro 2004.
Frank De Boer entered into coaching in 2007 when he was appointed Ajax youth team manager. After working as an assistant coach in Netherlands national team during FIFA World Cup 2010, he was introduced as Ajax head coach and under his helm the team claimed two consecutive Eredivisie titles.
