Gary Johnson is former football player turned manager. He was born on 28 September 1955 in Hammersmith. Johnson started his playing career in Watford signing for the club at the age of sixteen as an apprentice and becoming professional at the age of eighteen. His playing career included spells at Soham Town, Newmarket Town and Cambridge United.
His managerial work started in Newmarket Town in 1986. Two years later he moved to Cambridge United taking the post of a reserve team manager. He was subsequently promoted to the position of an assistant manager and took charge of the first team in 1992. After a three-year spell at the side the tactician moved to Kettering Town.
In 2001 he was introduced as Yeovil Town manager. He led the team to FA Trophy and Division Three title. In 2005 he moved to Bristol City and during his time in the side received the award of the League One Manager of the Month.
On 9 January 2012, Johnson returned to former club Yeovil Town, replacing Terry Skiverton who became Johnson’s assistant.
