Giovanni Stroppa was born on 4 January 1968 in Mulazzano, Province of Lodi, Italy. Stroppa started his career in football in Milan’s youth team in 1986, though his debut in the first squad happened only three years later. During three seasons that he spent in the Italian super club the midfielder tasted the honors of the European Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.
Moving in 1991 to Lazio Stroppa expected to achieve more with the capital club, yet he could not secure a place in the starting 11 and left to Foggia, later returning for a season to Rossoneri in 1994. From 1995 to 2005 Stroppa played for Udinese, Piacenza Calcio, Brescia, Genoa, Alzano, Virescit and retired in Chiari.
The Italian entered into coaching in Milan’s Under-21 team in 2010, though did not manage to train the team for the whole season and was dismissed from his position on 11 June 2011 after losing 0-1 to Roma in the Campionato Primavera.
After a short spell in Südtirol-Alto Adig, on 8 June 2012 Stroppa was appointed as a head coach of Pescara replacing Zdeněk Zeman but did not last long being released in November 2012.
