Gustavo Díaz, commonly known as Chavo, is a professional football coach born on 11 November 1974 in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Gustavo started out his professional career as a defender for River Plate where he played for 5 seasons since 1992. In 1997, he moved to Spain where joined Real Valladolid for one season and then signed for another Spanish side Albacete. However, his spell in Spain was short-lived and in 2000 Díaz returned to Uruguay. For the next five years he played for such teams as Defensor Sporting, River Plate, Bella Vista, Atenas de San Carlos and Paysandú.
In 2008, Chavo embarked on his managerial career taking the coaching reins at Central Español. In 2012, after a short tenure with Defensor Sporting, he took charge over heavyweights Nacional and coached the team for one year before taking the helm at Guarani from Paraguay.
