Huub Stevens is world-known former footballer and coach from the Netherlands. He enjoyed his moments of glory playing for PSV Eindhoven and the Netherlands national football team.
He began his playing career with Fortuna Sittard: he played in the position of defender for five years in the club (1970-1975). In 1975 he began to play for PSV Eindhoven where he won the national championship thrice, the Dutch Cup and the famous UEFA Cup (1978).
Stevens made 18 appearances for the national team and scored only once.
After leaving the pitch as a player, Huub Stevens coached Schalke 04 in 1996-2002. With him the team won the UEFA Cup and the German Cup twice. After his contract was over, he joined Hertha BSC but soon resigned. During his time with FC Köln, first the team made it to 2. Bundesliga and later – to 1. Bundesliga.
In 2007 he coached Hamburger SV and in 2009 – FC Red Bull Salzburg. Only on September 27, 2011, Huub returned to Schalke 04 as head coach but was sacked in December 2012.
In the summer 2013 he took charge of a Greek club PAOK and guided the team till March 2014. Later Stevens had a brief spell with Stuttgart.
