Laurent Blanc is a retired footballer, currently he is a football manager. He was born in 1965 in Alès, France, graduated from Montpellier youth academy and was promoted to the first team. He played for them between 1983 and 1991, helped the team to win Coupe de France in 1989/90 and in 1991 Blanc moved to Italy. He spent a season with Napoli and then returned to France. There he played for Nîmes, Saint-Étienne and Auxerre. In 1996 Blanc signed for Barcelona, but his season-long period there wasn’t a success, as he picked up several injuries. He re-joined Marseille and in 1998/99 they were league runners-up and the UEFA Cup finalists. In 2000/01 he played for Internazionale and in 2001 Blanc signed for Manchester United at the age of 35. He played for Manchester until 2003 and helped them with the Premier League title in 2002/03.
Laurent Blanc earned 97 caps for the France national team, was a part of the youth team winning UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship in 1988. In 1998 France won FIFA World Cup and in 2000 the team was UEFA European Football Championship winner.
He went in for managing and in 2007 became the head coach of Bordeaux and guided them until May 2010. He led them to Ligue 1 and Coupe de la Ligue titles in 2008/09. In 2008, 2009 they were Trophée des Champions winners. From May 2010 to June 2012 he was the manager of the France national team and in 2013 was appointed the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain.
