Luis Fernando Suárez is a former football player from Colombia. His coaching career started in 1999 with the club Atletico Nacional. From 2001 to 2004 the manager had spells with three clubs - Deportivo Cali, Deportes Tolima and Aucas.
In 2004 Suarez was appointed as a head coach of Ecuador and under his helm the team reached the 2006 FIFA World Cup, where the squad even qualified from the group defeating Poland and Costa Rica along the way. The coach extended his contract with the Ecuadorian national team till 2010, yet due to poor results at the start of the qualification campaign was forced to resign.
In 2011 Suarez was announced as a new coach of Honduras. He guided the team for three years, but resigned after dismal 2014 World Cup performance.
