Lyuboslav Mladenov Penev was born in 1966. He is a former Bulgarian football player and a current head coach of the Bulgaria national team.
Penev started his playing career in CSKA Sofia and they won two Bulgarian Leagues and three Bulgarian Cups. In 1988 he was named the Bulgarian footballer of the year.
In 1989 he moved to Spain, where he played for Valencia, Atlético Madrid, Compostela, Celta Vigo. In 2000 he returned to CSKA Sofia and soon finished his playing career in Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
On the international level Penev earned 62 caps, scoring 13 goals. He was a part of a squad at Euro 1996 and the 1998 World Cup.
He started his managerial career in 2009 in his former team CSKA Sofia, where he worked for one season and then moved to Litex Lovech.
In October 2011 he took charge of the Bulgaria national team.
