Myron Bohdanovych Markevych was born in 1951 in Vynnyky, Lviv oblast, Ukraine.
He spent his youth playing career with FC Karpaty Lviv reserves, SCA Lviv, FC Spartak Ordzhinikidze, and FC Torpedo Lutsk.
Markevych graduated from the Institute of Physical Education in Lviv and the Supreme school of coaches in Moscow and took up his managerial career. He was the head coach of such teams FC Torpedo Lutsk, Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih, Volyn Lutsk, Karpaty Lviv, Podillya Khmelnytskyi, Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih, Karpaty Lviv, Metalurh Zaporizhya, Anzhi Makhachkala, Karpaty Lviv and since 2005 he is the manager of Metalist Kharkiv.
Under his guidance the team finished third at the Ukrainian premier League during six seasons in a row. In the 2008/09 season Markevych led Metalist to 1/8 of UEFA Cup.
In 2014 Markevych left the club after the players had not been getting their wages for several months.
In 2010, he was responsible for the Ukraine national team during four matches but then refused to go on.
