Paulo Autuori de Mello was born in 1956 in Rio de Janeiro. A Brazilian football coach currently heads Vasco da Gama. In his early childhood he played futsal, but he had a poliomyelitis when a teenager, which hindered him from playing career.
He started his coaching career as a physical coach in Portuguesa (RJ), and then he worked in many football clubs in Portugal, Brazil and Peru, such as América, Nacional, Vitória de Guimarães, Marítimo, Benfica, Botafogo, Cruzeiro, Flamengo, Internacional, Santos, São Paulo, Alianza Lima, Sporting Cristal and Peru national team.
In 2006 Paulo Autuori headed a Japanese team Kashima Antlers and later he coached several Arab teams. In August 2011 he took charge of the Qatar Olympic team and in February 2012 he headed the Qatar national team.
After a short spell with Vasco da Gama Autuori took charge of São Paulo in 2013.
