Pavlo Yakovenko is a Ukrainian former midfielder and current football coach born on 19 December 1964 in Nikopol, Ukrainian SSR.
Pavlo spent the majority of his career playing for Dynamo Kyiv since 1982 till 1993. He had a glorious 1985/86 campaign as he helped his side to win the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup for the second time in their history. Yakovenko proved to be a vital figure for the USSR national team in that season as well as they reached the round of 16 in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. However, since 1987 Yakovenko found himself on a downward spiral constantly suffering from injuries. He eventually retired from playing in 1994.
The same year Yakovenko embarked on his managerial career. He is most renowned for his coaching spell with the Ukraine U-21 national team.
