Roberto Mancini was born on 27 November 1964 in Jesi, a small Italian town.
At the age of 16, young Mancini made his first appearance debut as a regular for Bologna. The new forward had a tremendous first season and attracted attention of different Italian clubs. Thus, in 1982, he was bought by Sampdoria, where Roberto became the winner of Serie A (1991), lifted the Italian Supercup, four Italian Cups and the Cup Winners' Cup (1990).
In 1997, Roberto Mancini transferred to Lazio of Rome and was voted the Serie A Player of the Year at the end of the season. Being a Lazio regular, Mancini gained the Cup Winners' Cup (1999), the Italian Super Cup (1998), the UEFA Super Cup (1999) and became the Serie A Champion (2000). Roberto was also capped for the Italy national team, played 36 matches but failed to show outstanding results, netting only four goals. In January 2001, the footballer signed for Leicester City of England and finished his footballer career a month later.
Mancini started his coaching career in 2000 in Lazio, being the assistant manager. In January 2001, he was appointed Fiorentina head coach. The same year Mancini helped the club to lift the Italian Cup. However, the next season turned out to be unlucky for the club and Roberto left his position. In 2004, he was put in charge of Internazionale. Under the guidance of Mancini, the club won the Italian Cup three times in a row (2004, 2005, 2006), became the Serie A winners (2006, 2007, 2008) and gained the Italian Super Cup in 2005. In May 2008, Mancini was discharged from his position due to the club poor performance in the Champions League.
At the end of 2009, Mancini signed a contract with Manchester City of England. In 2011, the team won the FA Cup. On 13 May 2012, they became the Champions of the Premier League. Roberto Mancini was voted the Premier League Manager of the Month in December 2010 and October 2011. He was sacked from the City in May 2013.
After a couple of months off duty, Mancini replaced Terim at the helm of Galatasaray.
