Sergei Yuran is an ex-footballer from Ukraine. He was born in 1969 and began his career at Zorya Voroshilovgrad in 1985. In 1986 the team won promotion to the First League and Yuran was noticed by the scouts from Dynamo Kyiv. Nevertheless he refused to move at once and completed a move after a season. He played for Dynamo between 1988 and 1991, but had a long interval due to a broken leg.
From 1991 to 1994 he played for Benfica and helped then to win the league title in 1994 and the domestic cup in 1993. But when Artur Jorge became the manager Yuran fell out of favor and moved to Porto for a season. In 1995 he had a short spell at Spartak Moscow and then moved to Millwall. Between 1996 and 2001 he played for Fortuna Düsseldorf, VfL Bochum, Spartak Moscow and Sturm Graz. Yuran represented the USSR national team, was called up to play for CIS and between 1992 and 1999 he earned 25 caps for the Russia national team.
He went in for coaching after retirement and was the tactician of FC Spartak Moscow reserves, then was an assistant manager. He guided Dynamo Stavropol, FC Ditton, FCTVMK, Shinnik Yaroslavl and FC Khimki. In 2008/09 he was the caretaker of Lokomotiv Astana, then became the assistant manager. In 2011 he was the head coach of Simurq PFC and in 2012/13 was at the helm of Sibir Novosibirsk.
