Xabier Azkargorta is a former Spanish footballer who was born on 29 September 1953. His playing career started in Athletic Bilbao in 1972. After spending 5 seasons in the team, Azkargorta joined Bilbao Athletic where he played till 1976.
After retiring from playing career in 1978 Azkargorta took up coaching. Since that moment the manager coached such clubs as Aurrerá Gimnàstic, Espanyol, Real Valladolid, Sevilla. Azkagorta headed two national teams – Bolivia and Chile.
In 1997 the coach was invited to Japan, where he trained Yokohama Marinos and claimed the title of J-League with the team.
In 2012 Azkagorta returned to the post of the head coach of Bolivian national team.
