History and achievements
The Egypt national football team is controlled by the Egyptian Football Association and represents the country in international tournaments. A famous American coach Bob Bradley, who used to be a footballer in the past, heads the team today. Ahmed Hassan is the team’s top scorer and he the most capped footballer (183).
The team’s debut in the World Cup championship was in 1934 where they lost to Hungary 2-4 in the first round. The next appearance in the World Cup was in 1990 and the squad didn’t manage to reach the finals losing to Algeria 0-1.
Egypt won the African Cup of Nations for seven times and they managed to claim 3 titles in a row from 2006 to 2010 being the most successful African team.
