The Seychelles national team, often nicknamed the Pirates, represent these islands in the Indian Ocean on the international football arena. It was founded in 1979 and is controlled by the Seychelles Football Federation. The team affiliated to CAF and FIFA in 1986.
The team have never qualified for the World Cup or Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. Their sole silverware is Indian Ocean Island Games trophy which they won in 2011.
As of February 2013, the team were ranked 197th in the FIFA world table. They play their home matches at the 10,000-seater Stade Linité in Roche Caiman.
