The Uganda national football team made their debut in 1926. It became the member of CAF in 1959 and joined FIFA in 1960.
The team, known as the Cranes, has never qualified for the World Cup finals and participated in five Africa Cup of Nations championships. Their best showing came in the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations when they finished runners-up.
In the 2010 World Cup and African Cup qualifier Uganda finished third in its group.
Micho Sredojević has guided the team since 2013. Their home ground is Mandela National Stadium.
