The 24-year-old defender George Friend moves from Doncaster to Middlesbrough

Friend was chased by Nottingham Forest and Ipswich, yet he decided to join Middlesbrough, signing three-year deal.

The president of the club Tony Mowbray claimed that the defender was a great signing for a team, as Friend could play as left-back or centre-back, implementing different functions on the pitch. Mowbray added that the player ‘is strong and very mobile and has all the characteristics you look for in a good player. He will create really tense competition in the defense line.’

The defender said that Middlesbrough was building a very strong side and his ambition was to help the team to earn promotion.
