Andre Santos returned to Arsenal

Arsenal flop Andre Santos has returned to the Emirates after his season-long deal with Gremio came to an end.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was keen to offload error-prone Santos and sent him to Gremio on loan with an option of permanent deal after the purchase of Nacho Monreal. The Brazilian side said they would like to make a deal permanent, but cannot afford the transfer fee. Gremio’s director of football Marcos Chitolina admitted: “It would prove to expensive to renew Andre’s contract. He is a very expensive player. We thank him for everything he has done.”

The 30-year-old left back fell out of favour with Arsene Wenger when he swapped shirts with Robin van Persie during Arsenal defeat at the hands of Manchester United in November.
