Andre Villas-Boas delighted to see Defoe regaining form
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas revealed he is delighted that striker Jermaine Defoe is regaining his form ahead of the crucial Premier League games.
Defoe netted 13 goals before suffering a pelvic injury that sidelined him for around a month. The 30-year-old England international failed to score in 12 games since then, however his eye for goal returned last week end, when he came off the bench to score the second Spurs’ goal in 3-1 win over Man City.
Villas-Boas now faces dilemma, whether to include Defoe in the starting XI for the Sunday’s away clash with Wigan up front, or prefer Adebayor, as the Spurs are chasing Champions League spot. He said: “Yes, it’s a big decision (to choose between Defoe and Adebayor), but we are extremely happy. It’s very important for us to have Jermain back, particularly because he found the back of the net. Goalkeepers have been making impossible saves against him and he finally got the ball in the net the other day with a tremendous goal that helped us get the three points.
“It’s good because he had a blip in terms of goals, not performances - he was always sharp - but he had a couple of injuries. Now he is back he gives us that quality and confidence by scoring,” he added.
