Arsenal are in talks with Fiorentina Jovetic

Arsenal have opened talks with their long-term target Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic over a possible move to Emirates.

The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has admitted Montenegro international Jovetic is topping his wish list this summer. However the Italian side will not settle for anything less than £20 million for their valuable asset and Arsenal are likely to face a tough competition for the signature of the player from Juventus and host of other Serie A clubs.

And yet Arsenal are looking to steal a march on the rivals by approaching player several months before the transfer window reopens. Jovetic himself is thought to be keen on prospect of playing for such an illustrious club, but the development of the situation depends on whether the Gunners reach a top-four finish this season.

Wenger has been offered a war chest of around £70 million to spend on new players. After missing out on David Villa in January, Wenger switched his attention on Jovetic, whom he considers an ideal candidate to team up with Giroud in attack.
