Arsenal close to signing Auxerre starlet Sanogo

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger revealed they are close to agreeing a move for highly-rated Auxerre striker Yaya Sanogo.

The promising 20-year-old forward, whose career has been marred with injuries, netted nine goals in 11 appearances for the Ligue 2 side. With his current deal expiring in summer, the speculations suggested he could move to big-money club in France. However Sanogo preferred Premier League move, reportedly agreeing a four-year deal with the Gunners.

Wenger said he is in ‘advanced’ negotiations with Auxerre over the transfer, but the deal has not been completed yet. He said: “It is in the advanced stages but it is not done.”
