Arsenal’s Chamakh keen on Bordeaux return

Arsenal forward Marouane Chamakh hopes he could return to Bordeaux, the club where he spent best years of his career.

The 29-year-old Morocco international has deemed surplus to requirements at the Emirates stadium, after he failed to establish himself as a first team regular under Arsene Wenger. He was offloaded to West Ham on loan until the end of the season in January, and is due to be back to his parent club in June.

Chamakh admitted he misses France however if he does ever returns to Ligue 1, he would like to play for Bordeaux. He said: “I am always nostalgic. I spent so many good times here. Everyone knows that Bordeaux is a club that is in my heart. If I find an agreement with Bordeaux, why not.”

Asked if he thinks such a switch is possible, he answered: “Yes, this is possible because there is a good chance that I will not stay at Arsenal. If I come back to France, it will be in Bordeaux.”
