Arsenal’s Giroud admitted he contacted Bayern last summer
Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud revealed Bayern Munich tried to lure him to Germany last summer, but he is happy to play for the Gunners.
The Frenchman admitted he was in the process of negotiations over a possible switch to Allianz Arena, however the potential move collapsed as the German giants switched attention to Mario Mandzukic. The Croatian has impressed Bayern scouts with his outstanding performance at Euro 2012 to such an extent they decided to land the player whatever the price.
And yet ex-Montpellier forward has no regrets as regards the failed move to Bayern, as he is enjoying his football at Emirates stadium. Asked if he has contacted Bayern’s representatives last summer, Giroud said: “Not directly but my agent was and it was validated by Bayern. They wanted time to watch the Euros and Mandzukic had a good tournament. The fact I was wooed by Arsenal is good. I’m very happy here. English football is what I hoped for. The people live, eat and sleep football here.”
