Aton Villa close to signing Aalborg striker Helenius

Aston Villa are on the brink of signing Aalborg forward Nicklas Helenius.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert, whose last season’s £7-million acquisition Christian Benteke has been tipped as Premier League transfer of the year, has moved again to try and land another potential goal-scoring sensation.

The 22-eyar-old Helenius netted 16 goals and set up another seven, helping his side to finish in the fifth spot in Denmark’s top-flight.

His arrival would ideally fit Villa’s recent transfer policy of replacing the ageing stars with cheaper and younger stars as he is looking to reshape the squad.

A statement on an official Aston Villa web-site read: “Aston Villa can confirm that the club are in negotiations with Aalborg BK for the transfer of Danish forward Nicklas Helenius. The club expects to conclude the deal, subject to a medical and personal terms, in the next 10 days.”
