Bayern Munich and Barcelona target Koscielny determined to stay at Arsenal
Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has dismissed rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona and Bayern Munich, stating he is happy to remain at the club.
The 27-year-old France international wowed both the fans and the pundits with a string of excellent performances at the end of 2012-2013 Premier League season, helping his side to reach Champions League qualification. His outstanding form has attracted attention of the clubs from all around Europe, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona reported to be particularly interested in adding the player to their ranks.
However Koscielny revealed he remains committed to fulfilling his duties at the Emirates stadium. He said: “I have a four-year contract. For now, I am still at Arsenal.”
Koscielny admitted that an eyebrow-raising 2-0 away win over eventual Champions League winners Bayern Munich gave the team necessary momentum to live up their season’s expectation and finish in the top four. He stated: “The second leg of the Champions League against Bayern Munich was a trigger for us. In the process, we almost won everything. The most important thing is that Arsenal is in the Champions League. It is super exciting to play against the best teams in Europe.”
