Bayern Munich won their fifth German Super Cup title

Two of Germany’s biggest clubs met in the DFL-Supercup final on 12 August 2012.

Borussia Dortmund, who are the winners of the 2011/12 Fußball-Bundesliga and 2011/12 DFB-Pokal, lost to Bayern Munich, the runners-up in the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.

From the first minute, Bayern took the lead of the match and goals from Mario Mandzukic and Thomas Muller saw Bayern Munich defeat Dortmund 2-1 in the German Supercup. One goal from Robert Lewandowski wasn’t enough for Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern’s coach Jupp Heynckes said that the team had won the first title and he hopes many more would follow.
‘This was a good test for us, especially in the first half we played particularly well. Both teams still have room for improvement, but of course psychologically this was a good win for us’, he said.
