Benteke to extend his deal with Villa if they avoid relegation

Aston Villa prolific striker Christian Benteke will kick start the contract negotiations with his club only if they secure Premier League status.

The Villans are desperate to hold onto services of their talismanic forward who has netted 19 goals this season, since joining from Genk for £7million in 2012, and are prepared to double his current £20,000 per week wage packet. The 22-year-old Belgian is topping the wish list of host of Premier League clubs including high-profile Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham.

However Benteke has told Paul Lambert he wants to stay Villa Park, should they avoid the agony of relegation this season. He believed regular first-team football could help him to improve his chances of being called up for Belgium squad for 2014 World Cup.
