Berlusconi: ’I'm convinced that we will stay at the top in all tournaments.’
Milan honorary president Silvio Berlusconi believes the current squad of Milan is very strong and says the offensive line is ‘quintet of super champions in attack that no Italian team can match’.
Milan boss admitted though that economic situation in the club does not permit to keep extra expensive players in the team, underlining that ‘It doesn’t mean we will stop winning. It means we will create a strong youth school, and a network of international scouts that will chase gifted players worldwide. Barcelona have done the same with their ‘cantera’, and we will follow this model in order to build an attractive and successful Milan. That’s how my Milan started winning with Sacchi.’
Berlusconi asked the fans to be calm and patient about the future of the side, assuring them he would do his best to build an effective team with young players in it that would compete for trophies even in that economic situation. He added that departure of Pirlo, Ibra and Thiago Silva was caused by budget requirements only and their loss was painful for him personally.
The president repeated that: ’AC Milan has claimed more titles and cups than any other club in Europe, I’m convinced that we will stay at the top in all tournaments.’
