Carew move to Inter collapsed due to fitness issues

John Carew’s proposed move to Inter Milan has fell through after he failed his medical at the Italian side.

The 33-year-old powerful forward, who had spells with Aston Villa, Stoke and West Ham, has been without club since leaving the Hummers last summer. The Nerrazurri have decided to offer the Norwegian a route back into the game, considering him as a replacement to the injured Diego Milito. However according to the reports from Italy, he did not manage to convince the Inter’s medical staff he has sufficient match fitness.

Meanwhile his agent played down the rumours about Carew’s insufficient fitness. He said: “John is physically fine, he has no injuries and the first tests showed no type of problem with his physical structure. Clearly, having been out for eight months, he might lack match fitness. He is ready to give his all. He is an experienced player and, if given the opportunity, will prove all his worth.”
