Corinthians denied Tevez interest

Corinthians have denied suggestions they are keen on landing Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.

The 29-year-old Argentina international had two-year spell with Corinthians before joining West Ham United in 2006. Current Tevez’s deal is due to expire in 2014, and he has reiterated he would like to end his career in South America.

However Corinthians’ director of football Edu Gaspar revealed they are not looking for another striker and dismissed the prospect of making a switch for Tevez. He said: “At this moment we have no interest in Tevez, we’ll sign players for the positions we need. We don’t seek a player because he is or might become important. If we need a player and we see that is someone who we need, we go after him. We will fight to sign him.”
