Crystal Palace won Premier League promotion

Crystal Palace booked the place in Premier League after narrowly beating Watford in Championship play-off final by courtesy of Phillips’ extra-time goal.

With the game being a fairly even affair it was 39-year-old Kevin Phillips who kept a cool head to convert the penalty after 105 minutes to send the Eagles’ fans in ruptures. The veteran forward sent the top into the top-right corner from the penalty spot to leave Almunia no chance. Wilfried Zaha, who has played his last match in Palace’s shirt before joining United in a £15million deal, delivered a brilliant display to prove he has what it takes to play on the highest level. His dribbles and runs constantly created havoc in oppositions’ defense and earned his side a penalty.

The victory gave a huge financial boost for Palace, the club which was saved three years ago from going into administration by local businessmen, as they will now receive an estimated of £120 million for Premier League TV rights deal.

The Londoners won secured the last remaining place in the Premier League for the first time since 2005, joining the likes of Cardiff City and Hull City, who won automatic promotion as champions and runners-up respectively.
