Drogba backs Mourinho return to Chelsea
Didier Drogba revealed he would be happy to see Jose Mourinho return to Chelsea, whom he considers to be an ideal replacement to interim Rafa Benitez.
The Ivorian striker has been one of first Mourinho’s signings as he took charge of the Blues. The pair claimed two Premier League titles together during the first spell of ‘the Special One’ in charge of Chelsea.
Chelsea have been frustratingly inconsistent this season and are currently lying in the fourth Premier League position lagging behind the leaders Manchester United by 22 points. Drogba believes Mourinho, who has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid in summer, could give a much-needed boost to Chelsea. He said : “I don’t know the other options, but the only man I know is Jose and if there’s a possibility for him to come back I think it would be great for the club. And for the fans because everybody loves him there and everybody respects him. We know he’s got something special. He creates something that brings all the players together and a special feeling like a family. We are like a family with him. We can go to war - we love this expression - we can go to war with him and that’s what makes his team win.”
