Eredivisie results: Ajax defeats AZ Alkmaar and other matches

De Jong brace double to send the Amsterdam-based side on top.

Dutch international Siem de Jong scored the opener on 20 minutes following a brilliant pass by Toby Alderweireld. Daley Blind bagged the second two minutes later, yet Alkmaar pushed one back after the break courtesy of Markus Henriksen header. De Jong returned Ajax a comfortable lead on 59 minutes when he scored form a free kick, but Jozy Altidore set up a nervy finish when he fired home 16 minutes from time, though the guests managed to hold on.

Ajax stands top of the table one point ahead of PSV Eindhoven who defeated RKC Waalwijk 2-0.
