FA Cup: Hull City and Charlton Athletic reach the last eight

Hull City and Charlton Athletic made it to the last eight stage of the FA Cup after Monday replays.

The Tigers played just two days after Premier League game against Cardiff City and Steve Bruce had to find a way to replace striking partners Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic, who are ineligible to play in the competition. Koren, Sagbo and Aluko got a chance to start and the Slovenian contributed a goal and assist for Curtis Davies to see his team go past Brighton and Hove 2-1 to book the tie against Sunderland in the next round.

Callum Harriott and Simon Church scored for Charlton Athletic to see Red Robins beat Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. The Owls failed to set all-Sheffield quarterfinal as United will now face Charlton on 8 March.

“Everyone was talking about the potential Sheffield derby and we sort of went under the radar,” said Athletic boss Chris Powell.
“We’ve got a real chance now of getting to the semi-finals, but it will be very tough against Sheffield United, who’ve had some really good results in the cup.”
