Gareth Bale completes a move to Real Madrid
Real Madrid have finally confirmed the capture of Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur.
The saga of the summer ended in a €100m deal between the sides, which makes the transfer the biggest in history. However, according to some resources, the fee was a couple of millions short of the one paid for Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2009 as Florentino Perez preferred to leave the Portuguese the top of the list. Anyway, the Welshman got number 11 shirt and will soon be available at the training ground of Los Blancos.
Upon arriving to Mdrid Bale said:
‘I have had six very happy years at Tottenham but it’s the right time to say goodbye. We’ve had some special times together over the years and I’ve loved every minute of it.
‘I would like to thank everyone at the club, the chairman, board, staff, coaches and players - and most of all the fantastic fans who I hope will understand this amazing career opportunity.
‘I would not be at the level I am today were it not for Southampton and then Spurs standing by me during some of the tougher times. Tottenham will always be in my heart and I’m sure this will be a successful season for them. I am now looking forward to the next exciting chapter in my life.’
