Gareth Bale won Player of Year award

Tottenham winger Gareth Bale deservedly earned both Player of Year and Young Player of Year awards to become the third player ever to win both awards and join the ranks of Cristiano Ronaldo (2007) and Andy Gray (1977).

The 23-year-old Wales international has been in remarkable this season: his 19 goals lifted Tottenham to the top four, allowing them to lead the battle for the Champions League spots.

Bale could not hide his delight with the winning of a prestigious award. He said: “It’s a massive honour. When you look at the list of winners there are some massive names on it but I couldn’t have done it without the team. They have been fantastic this year and so has the manager. I couldn’t have won it without them.”
