Heynckes believes preparation and discipline key factors for Bayern’s win
Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes said his gameplan against the Italian giants worked thanks to discipline and good physical preparation of his players.
David Alaba got off Bayern to a flying start with a long-range effort in the 2nd minute of the game. Despite the German giants dominating the whole game, they managed to score just one more goal by courtesy of Thomas Muller tap-in in the 63rd minute. Toni Kroos injury, however, has marred Bayern’s win. The player has been replaced by Robben due to groin injury after 16 minutes and is expected to be on the sidelines for six weeks.
Heynckes said: “We studied Juventus closely, prepared well for this game and we managed to disturb their game early and take (Italy midfielder) Andrea Pirlo out of the game. We have to be happy with the result, it’s never easy to beat an Italian side and dominate them. It doesn’t look so good for Toni, we’re waiting for more results of tests, he’s an important player for us.”
