Internacional’s director of football: Damiao is set to leave in summer
Internacional’s director of football Luis Cesar Souto de Moura revealed highly-rated striker Leandro Damiao is poised to move clubs in summer, fuelling the speculations linking the player with a move to Tottenham.
The Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is a long-term admirer of the player and tried to bring him to the White Hart Lane in January. However the proposed transfer collapsed, as both sides have not agreed failed to agree on a transfer fee. The Brazilian has also been attracting the interest from Italian giants Napoli, who are looking for a replacement to their striker Edinson Cavani, if he leaves the club in summer.
Current Damiao’s deal is due to expire in 2017 and it would take a large offer to convince Internacional part ways with their star. They will not settle for anything less than €20 million.
Luis Cesar Souto de Moura said: “Leandro Damiao is indeed the player that is most likely to leave Internacional, especially because foreign clubs are interested. Damiao is the player of the moment, everyone is seeing that. He is a great player, he’s very special.”
