Juve crushes the Hoops

Juve crushes the Hoops

The anticipation before the first-leg of last-sixteen game of the Champions League between Juve and Celtic was remarkable, yet Serie A champions easily claimed a 3-0 victory at Celtic Park.

The Italian side took the lead after just three minutes with Alessandro Matri using the defensive mistake. The Scottish side put huge pressure on Juve, creating a few decent chances, yet it was Antonio Conte’s side that doubled the lead with Claudio Marchisio silencing the 60,000 crowd. Mirko Vucinic netted the third for Juve almost putting an end to the run of SPL champions in Europe.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon claimed after the match: “We need a miracle but it’s the harsh reality of Champions League football and some of my young players will learn a huge lesson tonight. “

“I thought for 70-odd minutes, until the second goal, we were by far the better side - but you can’t give away goals like we gave away,” stated the tactician, whose team will play in Turin on 6 March.
