La Liga results: Barcelona cruises past Rayo and other matches

Barca saved their 13-points at the top of the table lead after a convincing victory over Rayo Vallecano with Messi netting twice.

The Argentine star Lionel Messi created a scoring opportunity for David Villa on 25 minutes, while 15 minutes later he netted himself extending his impressive scoring run in La Liga to 18 successive features.

Messi bagged the third one for the Catalan giants not long after the beak skipping around defender Anaitz Arbilla on the counter attack and shooting past the goalkeeper with his left foot. Espanyol managed to score one back courtesy of Raul Tamudo who fired home on 70 minutes just after coming from the substation’s bench.
