Lampard targets 100th appearance for England
Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard revealed he is keen on reaching a century of England appearances, following his landmark 200th goal in Chelsea shirt.
Lamps has scored a header against West Ham to mark his 200th goal for the Blues (becoming Chelsea’s second best all-time record goal-scorer) and help his team securing a 2-0 victory.
However the midfielder is not going to rest on his laurels and has targeted yet another milestone – reaching 100 appearances for the England national team. He needs to make just six first-team starts to join the club of England centurions. Lampard has been called up by England manager Roy Hodgson to represent the national team in the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro.
Chelsea legendary player said he is delighted to be part of Roy Hodgson plans and is enjoying playing for the national side. “I’m really enjoying the England thing. You really appreciate it as you get older every time you play for them. I’m enjoying being a part of it. It’s a very happy, comfortable squad with Roy in charge. It’s 94 (caps). But six caps in international football is still a relatively long way. So I’ll take it cap by cap.”
