Liverpool Suarez banned for 10 games for biting Ivanovic

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has been handed a 10-game ban by Football Association for biting Branislav Ivanovic.

The Uruguayan has been pleaded guilty to a FA charge of violent conduct. However he ruled out the claim that automatic three-match ban was insufficient. The independent commission decided that Suarez’s unsporting behavior deserves further punishment.

The incident came in the Liverpool Premier League clash with Chelsea at Anfield and was overlooked by the referee.

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre revealed they are disappointed with the decision, stating “Both the club and player are shocked and disappointed at the severity of today’s Independent Regulatory Commission decision. We await the written reasons tomorrow (Thursday) before making any further comment.”
