Luis Enrique is a new Barcelona manager

Barcelona legend Luis Enrique has been appointed as a new manager of the Catalan club.

Days after Tata Martino had resigned from Barcelona, the club’s officials named former player Luis Enrique as his successor. Enrique started his playing career at native Sporting Gijon, then spent five years with Real Madrid before switching for arch-rivals Barcelona in 1996. During eight years with the Catalan side Luis Enrique featured in 300 matches and netted 109 goals. In 2008 he was offered a coaching job at Barcelona B and guided them to the third place in Segunda in 2011. After that success he was invited to AS Roma, but failed to impress in Italy. In his first season with Celta Vigo Luis Enrique managed to propell them to ninth position in La Liga. He is now tipped to follow the steps of Pep Guardiola at his former club.
