Macheda would like to stay at Stuttgart
Italian forward Federico Macheda revealed he would like to turn his loan deal at Stuttgart to a permanent deal.
Macheda has joined the German side on a season-long deal from Manchester United in January, after failing to establish himself as a member of first-team squad at Old Trafford.
Macheda’s contract is due to expire in 2014, and it is likely the Red Devils release him on a free transfer. That is why he is actively looking for a new club.
Despite making just four substitute appearances for Stuttgart since joining the club in January, the Italian said he is enjoying his life in Germany and would like to sign a permanent deal should the possibility arise. He said: “In the winter, the move (to Stuttgart) was only a loan option but I knew there would be a chance to remain at the club after it. If Stuttgart want to sign me permanently, I would be very happy. Back at Manchester United it was always difficult for me due to the competition for first team spots. It would be great to remain at Stuttgart. Over here the coaches are working with young players and I feel I could progress at this club as a player.”
