Man Utd chase Baines

Metro reports Everton left-back Leighton Baines may try and force through his move to Man Utd, should his side fail to qualify for Champions League.

Recent speculations have linked the 28-year-old England international with a move to Old Trafford, amid rumours that Sir Alex Ferguson is looking for the replacement to ageing Patrice Evra. Since joining Everton from Wigan in 2007 Baines has developed into one of the Premier League best left-backs, and it is not surprising he is being chases by the top Premier league sides.

Man Utd have made an official enquiry last summer, but were put off by the £15 million price-tag slapped on the player by the Toffees. However it is believe Baines is ready to make a next step in his career and move to a bigger club. His international ambitions are being hampered by Ashley Cole and the switch to Man Utd will certainly help him to cement the place in the national team ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

Baines has scored 5 Premier League goals this season.
