Man Utd team news: Fletcher out for the rest of the season

Manchester United confirmed that their 28-year-old midfielder Darren Fletcher will be out of contention for the rest of the season after going through the surgery as part of his ulcerative colitis treatment.

Man Utd have confirmed that the operation is a part of a “planned procedure”. However it is understandably “frustrating” for the player who has just recovered from the long-term injury keeping him on the sidelines for 10 months. Fletcher has just made two cameo Premier League appearances since starting in the first XI during Man Utd’s 4-3 win over Reading at the Madejski Stadium.
