Manchester United signed Robin van Persie from Arsenal

Manchester United have reached an agreement for a £24m deal to sign Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.

Arsenal striker Van Persie announced in July he would not extend his contract with the club, which expires in June next year, after eight years with Arsenal.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus had an eye on of the Holland international. Van Persie eventually joined United on a four-year contract.

The 29-year-old is about to go to Manchester on Thursday and agree personal terms and have a medical.

The club’s official site reported: ‘Manchester United are pleased to announce an agreement with Arsenal Football Club for Robin van Persie.’

Last season Van Persie scored 37 goals for Arsenal, 30 of them were scored in the Premier League.
