Milan set to cement Champions League spot against Pescara

AC Milan visit relegated Pescara knowing that a win would guarantee them Champions League qualification.

The Rossoneri are sitting in the third placed four points above the closest rivals Fiorentina. Should they earn three points in the forthcoming fixture they will in fact cement the third-place finish, with Fiorentina having only slim chances of outstripping them.

Milan general manager Adriano Galliani said: “We now have match point against Pescara and, if we win there, we will make it. It’s not going to be easy, though, because all of the games are difficult at this stage of the season.”

Milan will play Roma on Sunday, which could be the pivotal fixture if they fail to secure a win over Pescara. Galliani added: “It’s definitely going to be important. “But I’m convinced that, if we win in Pescara, we will have a great chance of securing third, which is a fantastic result for us considering how we started with our first eight games. If we finish third now, then we’d be happy.”
